I've trained our techs to do epidurals on almost all abdominal/pelvic surgeries, and multi-modal analgesia in general is just awesome. In fact, my cat this morning (see my post http://thelearningvet.wordpress.com/2011/02/24/why-i-love-veterinary-medicine-reason-3/ ) had an epidural prior to her pyometra surgery!
